The Community Council of Zygi, in the context of its efforts for upgrading the quality of life in the community, has already delivered several infrastructure and beautification projects to the inhabitants.  In the context of its planning, it has already set into course a series of projects that aim to convert Zygi to a modern community.

 

Some of the projects already completed are:

1. The Community Park of Zygi was completed, being adjacent to the see and including a playground for children, a kiosk, verdant areas, and a volleyball field.

3. A new, bigger water tank was constructed at a higher point to cover the needs of the entire community.
4. Areas with paving were created at the core of the community.

The country church of "Agios Eraclidios" was reconditioned.

 

6. Sidewalks were set in -almost -the entire community.
7. Projects for the reduction of traffic were done around the primary school.

Some of the big scheduled projects are:

1.

By the end of 2007 the construction of the Fishing Shelter will begin, finishing in 2009.  The cost of the entire project runs up to £10.000.000.  The Fisheries Department assumed the construction cost with expenditures paid by the State.

 

2. Creation of a tertiary-waste-processing sewerage system.  The water produced will be used for irrigation purposes.
3. Construction of new community buildings, which will include the offices of the Community Council, an Infirmary, a meeting Hall, a hall for cultural events, an office for the Welfare committee, and a parking lot for the needs of the community.  The whole cost for this project will amount £350.000.
4. Construction of a heroes' monument outside the old community buildings, for all the freedom struggles of Cyprus and of the Greek nation in general (1821, 1940, 1955, 1974).  The building cost for the monument will amount to £ 40.000.
5. Expropriation and landscape formation of the beach with the creation of verdant and slated areas, and sidewalks. With this project the coastal front will be converted into a modern beach.  The cost will run up to £300.000.
6. Creation of two parks within the community.
7. Projects against traffic on the coastal road are scheduled, as well as circuitous road around the community.
8. Creation of a small reception hall and creation of restrooms within the churchyard of "Apostolos Varnavas".
9.

The creation of a Natural History Museum and Sea Life Museum are scheduled.
